I don’t remember if I slept that night

“You should die”
It spoke
“You shouldn’t exist”
The heavy you
You were twisting snakes
Unable to sleep in strange places
Not knowing how to comfort yourself
Except to retreat into your mind
They were like the god you prayed to
The voice detached from an outcome
Wishing for the best
Even if you didn’t know what that could feel like
It was odd being alone
Tears dried over tears
And the quiet set in of acceptance
Realizing life is being lonely
