WORDLESS LIFETIME

You told me in cheap words
Penny words
Nickle and dime
Dollar descriptions
Of what it was
You wanted to say
And your lips twitched and jerked
I thought you may speak again
But instead it was a big book of paltry worth
You threw it at me
With an eager fascination
About sounding like those pages
Recitation was all it was
But since the words were bursting from your expanded chest
You assumed they lived there
Their parents had married and they had been born there
I think if I were to rip you of those words
You would truly bleed from the loss
Not that they are you
But because you believe it to be true
And I didn't hear your voice after a while
I just heard paper turn
